SLP 130 Phonetics/Speech Patterns
This course introduces the International Phonetic
Alphabet and the categories of speech sounds,
including voice, place, and manner of production.
Emphasis is placed on the accurate transcription
of normal and abnormal speech samples using the
IPA and on the production of effective natural
speech. Upon completion, students should be able
to transcribe and categorize speech sounds and
understand the relationship between respiration,
articulation, and phonation during natural speech.
