Evaluating SAP
The academic Evaluation of Satisfactory Academic Progress and the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Evaluations are two processes occuring at similar times at the end of each term. Students may receive separate notification from each separate area concerning their status. The Academic Evaluation, notifies students regarding their eligibility to continue enrollment. The Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Evaluation at the end of each term, notifies students regarding their eligibility to receive additional aid for the upcoming term. It is possible for a student to be allowed to continue enrollment from the Academic Evaluation, but due to the Financial Aid Evaluation not be allowed to continue to receive aid, or vice versa. Students should pay close attention to the source of their notification and the status they have been assigned from each area.
Satisfactory Academic Progress is calculated at the end of each term in which the student is enrolled regardless of aid eligibility or use.
The first time a student fails to meet the minimum SAP standards (cumulative 2.0 GPA and cumulative 67 percent Completion Rate), the student will be assigned a “Warning” SAP status and will be allowed to continue to receive aid for one additional term. If the student does not meet minimum SAP standards after the “Warning” term, their status will be moved to “Suspended”. At that time, the student will not receive additional federal or state aid unless a SAP appeal has been submitted and approved.
