Regaining Eligibility Procedures
REINSTATEMENT/APPEAL PROCESS FOR GPA, COMPLETION RATE OR BOTH
Students who are no longer eligible for aid because of their GPA, Completion Rate or both may appeal their “Suspended” status.
The Director of Financial Aid may reinstate aid eligibility after reviewing the SAP appeal. The Director of Financial Aid may select to have a Committee review any or all appeals. If the appeal is approved, the student's SAP will be moved to “Probation” status. Reinstatement of aid will remain in effect for as long as the student meets the terms of the appeal as described in the Plan-of-Action. If the student does not meet the terms of the appeal for any term they are attending on a probationary status, the student will then be placed on "Terminated" SAP status. The student will have to regain eligibility by self-support until they met the minimum SAP standards of 2.0 GPA and a 67-percent completion rate (cumulative).
* If the student has not regained minimum SAP standards by the end of the term in which the student is enrolled while on “Probation” status, but did make progress toward meeting the minimum SAP standards, the student can continue on an approved plan for one additional term. The student’s SAP status will be moved to “Probation on Appeal” SAP status. This process will repeat each term until the student reaches the minimum SAP standards as determined by the college. At which time, the student’s SAP status will be moved to “Satisfactory” SAP status. Multiple appeals are not required.
Students may be required to develop a financial aid plan of action for graduation. Individual plans can include the restriction of aid eligibility and/or registered credit hours.
Students who fail to meet the requirements of their appeal will be moved to “Terminate” SAP status. At that time, additional appeals will not be considered. The student will not be permitted to use federal or state aid for educational expenses until the minimum SAP standards as determined by the college have been met.
Minimum GPA and/or Completion SAP Appeal Plan of Action Terms and Requirements
- Student must maintain a term GPA of 2.0
- Student must maintain a 100 percent Completion Rate for the term
- Student must not deviate from the active primary program for which the appeal was approved
- Student must take classes within the active primary program for which the appeal was approved
- Student must meet all terms of the appeal as outlined in the approved Plan of Action Terms and Conditions Letter (to be sent the student via U.S. post and official college e-mail following successful appeal)
- Student must meet with an academic advisor to develop the financial aid plan of action.
All SAP Appeal determinations are final.

Students who exceed the maximum allowable time frame to complete a program of study must appeal by using the financial aid Max Time Frame SAP Appeal process. The Director of Financial Aid may select to have a Committee review any or all appeals.
Students who are no longer eligible for aid because of their Maximum Time Frame SAP status, may appeal their “Maximum Time Frame” SAP status.
The Director of Financial Aid may reinstate aid eligibility after reviewing the SAP Appeal. If the appeal is approved, the student's SAP status will be moved to “Probation on Appeal” SAP status. Reinstatement of aid will remain in effect as long as the student meets the terms of the appeal as described in the Plan-of-Action. If the student does not meet the terms of the appeal for any term they are attending on a probationary status, the student will then be placed on "Terminated" SAP status.

Early registration is available to financial aid recipients who have a “Satisfactory” SAP status. If a student’s SAP status is not “Satisfactory” they must secure an alternative source of funding to cover their educational expenses until a determination regarding eligibility has been reached.
What is Included
- All credit hours attempted, including transfer credit, are to be considered in computing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Standards, even during periods when the student was not an aid recipient.
- Students that are on a Probationary SAP Status or Financial Aid Suspension and/or Warning Max-Time SAP Status will not be allowed to early register for classes at early registration unless they are paying out of pocket. Registration using Financial Aid will only be allowed after grades are in for the current term and SAP standards have been met.
