Course Repeat Policy
When a student repeats a course, the best grade is recorded as the final grade for the course and is used in calculating the student’s grade point average. Students may take a course a total of three times, including transfer credit, withdrawal, and audit. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the appropriate dean or the vice president of instruction. Exceptions to this policy include:
- Special disabling condition
- Change in technology
- Student failure of course or to improve grade
- Additional student improvement and learning opportunity
Veterans are advised that they cannot receive VA benefits for courses previously passed. Financial Aid will only pay for two attempts of a class.
Repeat of a Continuing Education Course
Continuing Education programs/courses are designed to enable participants to progress at their individual achievement rates, in gaining knowledge and skills in specific educational areas. In addition, students may enroll in Continuing Education courses as many times as necessary to accomplish their individual educational/training goals provided they continue to show progress, do not prohibit others from participating, are willing to pay fees, and do not violate North Carolina Community College System policy.
