Aviation

Training to obtain a pilot certificate is done in two steps:

Step 1 is obtaining the training in the aeronautical knowledge areas required of a private pilot. Completing the Private Pilot Ground School satisfies this requirement.

Step 2 is receiving the hands-on flight training to gain proficiency in the piloting skills required of a private pilot. These skills are then tested by an examiner in the airplane (the practical test) and your pilot certificate is issued. You will need to attend flight school or learn from an independent instructor for this step as CCC&TI does not offer these options.

Private Pilot Ground School

This course will cover the basic knowledge required of a private pilot to pass the Private Pilot Airplane written exam, and will prepare students for flight training in an actual aircraft with a flight instructor. This course is a study of aerospace history, weather, navigation, instruments, preflight planning, computer and wind triangles, regulations, radio communications, the aviation field and procedures necessary to become a safe private pilot.

Aviation Instrument Rating

This course is designed to teach pilots to operate aircraft in low-visibility environments, such as heavy cloud cover or heavy rain. The subjects taught in the course provide pilots the knowledge to rely solely on instruments to navigate the aircraft in situations where they cannot rely on visual instincts. The certification itself is supplementary to the Private Pilot or Commercial licenses, and qualifies the pilot to fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). This course is designed to advance the Private Pilot student to an instrument rating status. It includes classroom work only.
