Academic Advising

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is a strong community college, and the foundation of that strength is a competent and caring faculty and staff. Admissions specialists, academic advisors, and success coaches can help you identify your educational goals, explore career fields, and start you on the path toward success here at CCC&TI and beyond.

Before you enroll, you will work with an admissions specialist who will assist you with the admissions process, choosing a program of study, and registering for your first semester of classes. Once your first semester is underway, you will be assigned an academic advisor in your program and a success coach who will serve as your primary contacts for the remainder of your academic activities while enrolled at the college.

Academic advising is one of the most important factors in student success, and developing a good relationship with your advisor is key to that success. You are expected to confer periodically with your advisor (at least twice per semester) regarding your academic progress, your educational and career goals, early registration, and any other concerns or questions you may have.

Your advisor/success coach will expect you to

  • Schedule and keep regular appointments with your advisor.
  • Arrive on time and be prepared for each appointment.
  • Actively participate in advising by asking questions and offering feedback on your academic experiences, including challenges as well as successes.
  • Discuss your personal values and goals and provide honest information regarding your interests and capabilities.
  • Follow through on your advisor recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Properly register for classes by the required deadlines.
  • Identify where to find program requirements, registration policies, and procedures.

  • Keep your contact information (name, address, phone) current with Student Services.
  • Seek help and use appropriate campus resources when needed.
  • Accept responsibility for your decisions and actions (or lack of interaction) that affect your educational progress.
